Taking 1st at State-Go Geeks!!

First Lego League (FLL) State Championship

Kuna High School

(This song "Axel F and the Crazy Frog" and "Numa Numa" are the songs that they had continually playing during the robot game runs. I was dreaming these songs all night!)

Looking down on the floor to the Robot game tables. From all over the state of Idaho, 56 FLL teams came to compete! The Galilego Geeks were ready...

The Galilego Geeks

Evan, Nathan, Oliver, Me, Coach Richard, Parker, Daric, and Ewan

(For State, Richard and I got the boys the cool "trucker caps" for the tournament.

Aren't they GREAT!! So Geeky :)

Waiting for opening ceremonies on the bleachers. All nervous, excited, and ready to go. Immediately after opening, we had our first robot game. The boys decided to *change* something and messed up the programing. The run went bad... 100 points. (We had been hitting 295 the night before.) They were totally bummed. I was totally pulling out all my cheerleading stuff!! I had to get these boys excited for doing their best on the other events. We had team building, technical (Robot Design), and team building. The boys hussled and pulled together. They got the robot mostly fixed by our second run. We tied for first at 245, then the last and final run of the day, they nailed it and got 275 points taking 1st place for points in the robot game!! YEAH!!

All the participants received the really cool medals. We also won 1st place for the Robot Design which means they had the best robot design, programming, and game strategy in the State of Idaho!! During that portion of the tournament, the judges were totally impressed and wowed by what these boys had done. The judges asked if the coaches had helped and they were all, "No!" Pretty funny. So true though-I have no clue!!

My Oliver with the two trophies for Robot Game and Robot Design
It was a lot of work to put this together. I had to get the grant, get more $$ from the PTA, and all of my kids sacrificed their Tuesday after school to hang out for 2 hours for practices. It was tough, but days like this make it all worth it. It is why I do what I do. I love these boys!! They are truly amazing, smart, and so fun to be with!!

State Champs!! Go GEEKS!! What a crazy bunch!!

The team, especially our kids, don't know how good they've got it by having you.
