Tea Party Boise

Elsie was my tea party buddy on Tax day-April 15th. I was going to take all of the kids out of school, but the forecast was snow and rain. So the boys went to school and Elsie and I took to the streets downtown. We made three stops on our march: Ann Morrison Park, Julia Davis Park, and Capital Park. She was such a trooper. She walked the whole way!! This picture was at Julia Davis where it started to rain! (It only rained for about 20 minutes.) At each stop we laid out the blanket we brought and ate some snacks. At the Captital she said, "Mom this is a GREAT Tea Party."

Here we are in front of the Idaho State Capital building. We did it! We had a police escort the whole way. We saw every walk of life. We walked for part of the way with an older couple. They said they wouldn't miss this for anything. We saw biker dudes, families with kids and signs, young and old, suits, and dirty work pants. It was truly amazing the way we all came together for such a great cause-to encourage fiscal responsibility from our government leaders, a return to the foundation of our constitution, and a return to "We the people."

It was fun to read all of the signs-some clever people out there. One of my favorite was, "Don't Tax Cow Farts." Eric saw one on the news that said, "Elephants and Asses are Leading the Masses." I also liked, "Budgeting 101: Spend Less than you earn" and "Stop Rewarding Failure." Lots of kids with "Stop Spending my Future" signs. There was everything!

They had a big A-frame board with the constitution of each side. They had scrolls on each side to sign our support of the constitution. Here is Elsie signing her name. We had a great day together and came home very tired, but grateful to be a part of something important and grateful to be Americans-to live in a land of freedom and opportunity that allows us to come together to voice our concerns. God Bless America!
