San Diego Zoo
Here are our favorites from the zoo:
Oliver: Skyfari and the turtles (they had a small garden with a pond that was full of turtles. They were so cute. The kids tried to talk me into getting them one...)
Henry: Skyfari and the Panda exhibit
Jack: Skyfari and the Pandas
Elsie: Skyfari, the Polar bear (she bought a cute little panda bear), the turtles, flamingoes, and elephants, and the little deer
Norah: She liked it all. Mostly the bird aviaries and the monkeys.
Dad: The fern trail and the hippo
Mom: All of the plants and flowers. It felt like a rain forest in parts of it. I also liked the double decker bus tour and the elephants.
The whole zoo was really amazing. When we were leaving they let out about 5 or 6 Macaws and they flew right over our heads. Pretty cool. We had a fun day at the zoo. We wore our kids out again!! But, there is more to see...
Mormon Battalion Visitor Center
Old Town San Diego

A good friend recommended that we visit here. We are so glad that we did. We were guided through a 2000 mile trek that the Mormon Battalion went on. It was very fun and creative.

The grounds and building were beautiful. I can't get over how much I love the plants and flowers in California!

Henry represented one of the soldiers as the sister missionaries talked about what they would take. The gun was really heavy. I think they said 20 lbs! When asked what would they bring Elsie said, "toys and decorations for the house." In the window was actually a screen with actors that would come and talk about what was happening with the battalion.
After the tour they took a family picture and then we headed out to pan for gold. The kids had a great time and came out with some cool, colorful rocks. I was wishing we had more time to explore more of Old Town San Diego. Eric and I really wanted to try an authentic mexican restaurant...another time.
After the Visitor Center we headed to the Beach!! We had about an hour of daylight left and decide we needed to go play. It was beautiful. We watch the sun set over the ocean. The waves were so peaceful. Very relaxing.

After playing at the beach we headed to:
In-N-Out Burger
Being in California we decided that we had to go to In-N-Out!! After driving around for a while we finally found it. Definately worth it. YUMMY!!

On the drive back to our hotel on the freeway we came around the corner and there to the side glowing ahead of us was the San Diego Temple. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day!
