After driving 16 hours in the car and 1000 miles we made it to our hotel in Carlsbad, California. What a beautiful place! We loved the palm trees and flowering trees and shrubs. We could see the ocean from our room. Very cool!
The night we arrived we headed down to the pool to swim and sit in the hot tub. It felt good to get out and move after the drive.
The morning we were getting ready for Disneyland the power went out!! It was out for the next 24 hours. Kinda crazy getting ready in the dark with cell phones. Luckily, Henry was prepared with his flashlight!
DAY 1: Disneyland
Our first day we headed to Anaheim for Disneyland!! Everything about it was magical and spectacular! It was so big. We saw just about everything we wanted to. We were dragging at the end of the day. Really something for everyone.
Favorites of Disneyland:
Oliver: Huge Lego Store!!, Nemo Submarine, and Jungle tour. He said "Disneyland was better than I thought." Also liked the architecture of Toon Town and Fantasyland as well as the ferry ride.
Henry:LEGO store! Indiana Jones Adventure, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Carribean, and Nemo Submarine. He liked Disneyland and added "my legs hurt sooo bad I can't even jump!"
Jack: Buzzlightyear Astroblasters, Peter Pan, Nemo Submarine, and Autopia. We made the mistake of taking Jack on Indiana Jones first. He was freaked out about rides for the rest of the morning! Jack also really liked Tomorrowland.
Elsie: Peter Pan, the Disney Store where she got her princess set, her purple sucker from the Candy store, and the Toon Town roller coaster. After the roller coaster she said, "Sometimes I keep my spooky in my tummy!" The highlight of the day was the Fantasyland taking pics with Jasmine, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty! Yeah!!
Norah: What a trooper! She did great! She loved the Tiki Room with singing birds and totems with fun music. She also liked the parade with the music and lights. She went with mom on Peter Pan, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion. She was very comforting to her mother :)
Eric liked going on the rides with Henry and Elsie and really liked Adventure park.

I liked the tiki room (still have the music in my head) and Peter Pan. I was totally impressed with the buildings and architecture and the themes and landscaping of the whole park. Truly amazing!! What a magical place!!

Disneyland truly is a one of a kind place, our favorite. I'll have to ask Elsie all about it in primary. I'm glad you got to see it all decked out in Halloween style. Happy you had a great time.
I am so so so so so so so so so so HAPPY you guys finally got to go! What a wonderful family adventure! I can't believe you took Norah! Brave mama! Yeah for LEGOS!
